Food Allergy and Allergen Statement

This statement applies to BRIX and to every restaurant, café, bakery and food concept operated by The Lab Holding.

Please tell our team before ordering.

If you have a food allergy, intolerance, sensitivity or dietary requirement, speak with a member of our team before ordering or consuming any food or beverage.

Our Commitment

The health and safety of our guests is important to us. Across our restaurants, cafés, bakeries and food concepts, we prepare and serve a wide variety of foods and beverages using different ingredients, preparation methods and shared kitchen environments.

We encourage guests with an allergy or dietary concern to carefully review this information and inform our team before ordering.

Allergens Used in Our Kitchens

Depending on the concept, menu and location, our food and beverages may contain or come into contact with allergens including, but not limited to:

Cereals containing gluten
wheat, rye, barley and oats
Crustaceans
shrimp, prawns, crab and lobster
Eggs
Fish
Peanuts
Soybeans and soy products
Milk and dairy products
Tree nuts
including almonds, hazelnuts, walnuts, cashews, pistachios, pecans, Brazil nuts and macadamia nuts
Celery
Mustard
Sesame
Sulphites and sulphur dioxide
Lupin
Molluscs
including oysters, mussels, clams, scallops, squid and octopus

Other ingredients may also cause allergies, intolerances or sensitivities in certain individuals even where they are not included in the commonly recognized major allergen categories.

Different Concepts and Menus

Our group operates different food and beverage concepts, including restaurants specializing in seafood and Japanese cuisine, bakeries, dessert concepts, cafés and other food and beverage operations. Ingredients and allergens vary significantly between brands, locations, dishes and beverages.

Our seafood and Japanese concepts may regularly handle fish, shellfish, crustaceans, molluscs, soy, sesame, gluten and eggs. Our bakery and dessert concepts may regularly handle wheat or gluten, milk, eggs, nuts, peanuts, soy and sesame. Our cafés and beverage operations may handle milk, dairy alternatives, nuts, soy and other ingredients containing allergens.

These examples are general guidance only and are not a complete allergen declaration for any particular dish or beverage.

Cross-Contact

Although our teams follow food-safety procedures and take reasonable precautions when preparing food, our kitchens are not generally allergen-free environments. Different dishes may be prepared, cooked, stored or served within the same kitchen or preparation areas. Ingredients and utensils may also be handled within shared environments.

Cross-contact may occur through shared:

  • Preparation and cooking areas
  • Work surfaces and chopping boards
  • Knives and other utensils
  • Ovens, grills and cooking equipment
  • Fryers and cooking oils
  • Mixers, blenders and food processors
  • Refrigeration and storage areas
  • Coffee machines, steam wands and beverage equipment
  • Bakery and pastry equipment
  • Serving utensils, containers and tableware
  • Employee handling during preparation and service

We cannot guarantee that any food or beverage is completely free from a particular allergen or traces of allergens, even where that allergen is not intentionally included in the recipe.

Shared Fryers, Grills and Cooking Equipment

Some menu items may be cooked using the same fryers, grills, ovens, pans or other equipment as products containing allergens. Products that do not contain fish, shellfish, gluten, dairy or other allergens as intentional ingredients may still be exposed through shared cooking equipment or cooking oil.

Guests should not assume that fried, grilled, baked or otherwise cooked items are allergen-free solely based on their listed ingredients.

Bakery and Flour Environments

Our bakery, pastry and dessert operations regularly handle flour, gluten, dairy, eggs, nuts and other allergens. Airborne flour, nut particles and other ingredients may be present. Products prepared in these environments cannot be guaranteed free from traces of these allergens.

Seafood and Shellfish

Certain concepts handle significant quantities of fish, crustaceans and molluscs. These ingredients may be prepared and stored within shared kitchen areas and may use common preparation or cooking equipment.

Guests with severe fish or shellfish allergies should inform our team before ordering, even when selecting a dish that does not list seafood as an ingredient.

Coffee, Beverages and Milk Alternatives

Our cafés and beverage stations may use dairy milk alongside plant-based alternatives such as soy, almond, oat or other products. Steam wands, pitchers, blenders, shakers and other beverage equipment may be shared. While equipment is cleaned according to our operating procedures, cross-contact remains possible.

Choosing a plant-based milk alternative does not automatically mean that a beverage is dairy-free or allergen-free.

Ingredients From Our Suppliers

Some ingredients are manufactured, processed or packaged by third-party suppliers. Supplier products may be produced in facilities that handle allergens, and their formulations, manufacturing processes or allergen declarations may change.

We rely on information supplied by manufacturers and suppliers when identifying allergens within these products. We cannot independently guarantee the absence of allergens or traces of allergens within ingredients supplied by third parties.

Menu and Recipe Changes

Our menus, recipes, ingredients, suppliers and product specifications may change periodically due to seasonality, product availability, menu development or operational requirements. An ingredient or product used on one occasion may differ from that used previously.

Guests with allergies should inform our team on every visit and every time they order, even if they have safely consumed the same dish or beverage before.

Menu Modifications and Substitutions

Where possible, our team may explain ingredients or discuss reasonable modifications. Removing an ingredient does not necessarily make a dish safe for a guest with an allergy, as other ingredients, preparation methods or cross-contact may still present a risk.

A request to remove an allergen-containing ingredient should not be interpreted as confirmation that the finished dish is allergen-free.

Vegan, Vegetarian and Other Dietary Descriptions

Terms such as vegan, vegetarian, plant-based, dairy-free, gluten-free or similar dietary descriptions describe the intended recipe or dietary characteristics of the product. Unless specifically confirmed otherwise, they should not be interpreted as a guarantee that the product is free from traces of allergens, particularly because kitchens and equipment may be shared.

Dietary preference and food allergy requirements should be communicated separately to our team.

Medical Dietary Requirements

Guests with celiac disease or any diagnosed medical condition requiring the avoidance of particular ingredients must inform our team clearly before ordering and identify the specific ingredient or substance that must be avoided.

Our team will review the available recipe, ingredient and allergen information and assess the risk of cross-contact. Because our kitchens use shared preparation areas, utensils, fryers and cooking equipment, we cannot guarantee that any food or beverage is completely free from gluten or another specified ingredient.

If the required level of control cannot be safely achieved, our team may advise that we are unable to accommodate the request.

Online, Takeaway and Delivery Orders

The same allergen considerations apply to dine-in, takeaway, catering and delivery orders. When ordering through our websites or other channels, guests should review available allergen information and communicate their allergy wherever an appropriate facility is provided.

Third-party delivery platforms may display abbreviated or reformatted menu descriptions. Guests should not rely solely on those descriptions when making decisions relating to a food allergy. Contact the relevant restaurant directly before ordering if clarification is required.

Severe Allergies

Guests with severe or potentially life-threatening allergies should make this known clearly to our team before placing an order.

While our team will provide available ingredient and allergen information and take reasonable precautions, shared kitchens, equipment, preparation areas and supplier environments mean that we cannot guarantee a completely allergen-free environment.

If the level of cross-contact risk is unsuitable for your particular allergy, our team may advise that we are unable to safely accommodate the request.

Your Responsibility

Every person's allergy, intolerance and sensitivity is different. Guests are responsible for informing us of their individual requirements and making an informed decision based on the information provided.

Do not consume a product if you are uncertain whether it is suitable for your allergy or dietary requirement.

Questions About a Particular Dish

Allergen information can vary by brand, location and menu item. Please speak with the team at the relevant restaurant or café before ordering. Our team will refer to the available recipe, ingredient and allergen information to assist you.

Before You Order

Please always inform us of any food allergy or intolerance before ordering.
